About us
Arapahoe County is Colorado's first county and the third largest in the state with a population of more than 618,000. The County has 13 incorporated communities, including Aurora, Bennett, Bow Mar, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Valley, Deer Trail, Englewood, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village, Littleton, and Sheridan. Arapahoe County was named for the Arapaho Indians, who along with the Cheyenne Indians, occupied most of Colorado when it was only a territory. An elected, five-member Board of County Commissioners serves as the administrative and policy‐making body. Voters also elect the County Assessor, Clerk and Recorder, Coroner, District Attorney, Sheriff and Treasurer. Arapahoe County has 2,011 employees and a $339.3 million budget. The County has one of the lowest mill levies of counties on Colorado's Front Range. The County Administration Building is located at 5334 S. Prince Street in Littleton, Colorado, but we offer locations throughout Arapahoe County.

Tuesday, the Board of County Commissioners recognized the 20-year anniversary of the County’s Open Spaces program! In November 2003, Arapahoe County voters approved a ballot measure to introduce a quarter-cent Open Space Sales and Use Tax to support local parks, trails and open spaces. The tax was renewed by voters in 2011 and again in 2021, when it was permanently reauthorized with more than 76% of the vote. Residents recognize that the County’s parks, trails and open spaces contribute to our quality of life and our health. They also make Arapahoe County a desirable place to live, work and play! It's #NationalPublicHealthWeek! Here's to celebrating the people behind the scenes of preventing disease, promoting health and keeping our community safer for all of us. The team at Arapahoe County Public Health got together for an all-staff meeting this week to give updates, celebrate accomplishments and recognize contributions. The theme was ducks because public health work is a lot like a duck swimming in a pond. Things may be calm on the surface, but underneath, just out of sight, there's a whole lot of paddling that keeps everything going swimmingly. Happy #NPHW to all the ducks out there working hard to keep health, safety and well-being afloat! Join the celebration by learning about a few of the many major public health accomplishments: https://lnkd.in/dhQVNm-6 #ArapahoeCounty #Colorado #PublicHealth
